Prioritize projects: overview
Each opportunity identified after completing the self-assessments is a potential data modernization project. Recognizing that each data modernization project can be a major undertaking and that adequate resources to overhaul every system are rarely available, health departments must prioritize what efforts would bring the most value.
The next step is to prioritize the projects so that the DMI team can begin to build a data modernization plan for implementation. The objective of prioritization is to use tools to identify the top potential projects for inclusion. This section will not dictate how to select top projects: instead, it will offer guidance and tools that can be used to conduct prioritization.
