Review DMI self-assessment results
CDC is partnering with ICF International to develop an assessment tool that will provide a comprehensive understanding of the health department’s capabilities and capacities related to data modernization. The purpose is to enable health departments to document the current status, needs and opportunities specific to data modernization and to provide the information needed to help prioritize the use of DMI funds to meet identified needs and assess progress relevant to the cooperative agreement over time. The assessment tool will be pilot tested with select jurisdictions during the summer of 2021 with an expected availability to all jurisdictions beginning in September, 2021. The use of the assessment will satisfy the required task of documenting workforce, data and health information system needs and opportunities as described in the C2 guidance. Jurisdictions are expected to use the results of the assessment to develop strategic roadmaps for health information system(s) modernization and workforce development. If jurisdictions have already performed a similar assessment, jurisdictions may still need to review the provided assessment tool and respond to any areas not previously addressed.
