The goals in developing this framework are to serve as a tool for ACOs so they are better able to identify and prioritize their health IT needs and align their resources to meet their objectives through a technology roadmap; for payers seeking to assess and/or complement the health IT capabilities of their partners; and for system and product developers looking to fill current technology gaps.
As a CCHIT commissioner, I endorsed the concepts and constructs included in the framework. I am pleased to see that they have produced a well-constructed, thoughtful tool that should help organizations make strategic information systems decisions. I also hope that the public health community embraces this resource and uses it to understand how their work with health care enterprises can be informed by the framework.
