What are FHIR implementation guides?

CODI uses Privacy Preserving Record Linkage (PPRL)—a method of matching records containing personal identifiable information (PII) across organizations without a unique identifier—as part of the process. Here are two FHIR (Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources) implementation guides to support this process in a FHIR-enabled system. FHIR is a standard for exchanging healthcare information electronically.

PPRL FHIR Implementation guide

This implementation guide describes how the Privacy Preserving Record Linkage (PPRL) process can be conducted when Data Owners retain patient information in FHIR-enabled systems. The guide specifies the processes for extracting information for obfuscation and how linkage information can be communicated back to a Data Owner.

DATA MODEL FHIR IMPLEMENTATION GUIDE

This guide explains how Data Partners should interpret the CODI Data Model when using FHIR. The document does assume that partners are familiar with the National Patient-Centered Clinical Research Network’s (PCORnet) Common Data Model (CDM). This implementation guide provides best practices on how to populate the CODI Data Model using local data.5
