Biography

Margaret Basket serves as the director of the CHAMPS informatics office at PHII. She was promoted to this role from Senior Business Analyst and prior served as a Technical Project Manager for CHAMPS.

Margaret transitioned from a career as a mechanical engineer (Bachelor of Science from Michigan Technological University) to the health information sector after almost four years as a Peace Corps Rural Health Care Agent in Senegal, West Africa. Upon returning to the U.S., she completed her Master of Science degree in Information at the University of Michigan, followed by a two-year fellowship at the National Library of Medicine in Bethesda, MD. She has worked at various information-based start-up companies in product management and then as an account manager in the pharmaceutical industry for the publisher Elsevier. She joined the Public Health Informatics Institute after five years of developing, testing, and implementing population management software platforms for Forward Health Group in Madison, Wisconsin.

Margaret’s professional interests include software design and development, agile project management, and user-centered design. Margaret is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP).
