Since 1992, we have assisted public health organizations in defining and leveraging the power of information systems to meet public health needs. The work of the Institute is guided by principles and methods that have emerged from our experience in public health, health care, and informatics.

The Institute is known for our expertise as a neutral convener, bringing public health professionals to the table, and facilitating collaborative efforts.  Through discussion and research, we contribute an  understanding of the key issues affecting the use of information technology in public health.  Our research and analysis focuses on the best practices and approaches for using information technology to support public health programs.
