Under a contract with CDC’s National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases (NCIRD), the Institute provides technical assistance to support the Healthy People 2010 goal for immunization information systems. A key component of the Healthy People 2010 initiative is to have 95 percent of U.S. children less than 6 years of age enrolled in a population-based registry.
For those states needing assistance to meet the goal, the Institute provides technical support in terms of site visits and a review of relevant processes supporting the immunization registry.
The Institute works with state immunization staff to review alternative approaches to meet Healthy People 2010 targets. The Institute helps the state define areas where they can improve immunization data and registration in target communities.
