The Institute leads a multi-phased project to define the common information needs necessary to support childhood obesity programs and the requirements for strategic information systems. Childhood obesity can influence long-term community health in a number of areas, including chronic disease incidence and implications for education and health systems.

We understand that the prevention and treatment of childhood obesity in the United States crosses many sectors and disciplines. Addressing this national health problem requires accurate, reliable, and relevant information to assist in shaping prevention and treatment programs and policies. This project helps program staff assess opportunities for prevention programs in their communities and suggests opportunities for sharing information and resources toward treatment and prevention goals.
